Mind Full to Mindful: Physician Burnout Webinar Part 2
Physicians live in a VUCA environment—volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity—where even the most resilient physicians can feel overwhelmed to the point of burnout.

Mindfulness is an evidence-based approach to mitigating physician burnout, not only building calm but also enhancing focus, heightening compassion for self and others, and shifting limiting thought patterns. Studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and the Annals of Family Medicine reported that physicians felt more empathetic and attentive toward patients and achieved higher levels of satisfaction with their overall quality of life.

Learn how mindfulness can help physicians cope with stress and burnout in Part 2 of the Academy’s wellness webinars with the Association of Veterans Affairs Ophthalmologists.

Ruth Lerman, MD, and Dr. Alyssa Cunningham will share about what mindfulness is and how the practice can be powerful in cultivating emotional, mental and physical well-being. They will provide practical strategies and short exercises that can be readily incorporated into the ophthalmologist’s daily routine to reduce burnout. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.
